I had just assumed that coders would not hand over their copyright to EveryBlock unless there was some sort of guarantee for the future openness of the code, which is why I though that they could do this only, since as you noted, Everyblock is a webservice.

But I was 1) assuming it was a large project 2) using the ethical standards of the developers I am used to ;)</description>
