Mono Considered Harmful

Jeremy Allison on Mono. Given his work on Samba, it’s very interesting and well argued. Here’s the short version for skimmers: Microsoft has actually filed suit on its patents and will not freely license the patents that cover Mono. Allowing GNOME (or any other crucial architecture) to depend on Mono forces too much of the Linux desktop community to rely on Microsoft’s good intentions.
